From Pearls to Emeralds

Years ago, while in Hawaii, Brian Nagamatsu noticed a man selling strikingly beautiful necklaces. Inquisitive, Brian quietly asked the man where he had come across such interesting and beautiful pieces. The man congenially informed Brian that he himself had made the jewelry...he then began to show Brian the creation process of his wonderful inventory.

From this humble meeting Brian and wife Felicia Nagamatsu's national mail order bead company Kuma Bead was born. Located at 133 Saratoga Road, Route 50, Glenville, NY, Brian's business has expanded by popular demand from friends and neighbors, to include an amazingly organized beading showroom.

"The showroom has now been open for several years and has, to my wife and myself, and countless others, been a place of extraordinary beauty and personal relaxation. We enjoy opening our delivery boxes, it's so interesting to see the beads inside...you never know exactly what they'll look like...it's almost like Christmas." Besides great retail prices, Brian and his staff are now creating wonderful gemstone designs especially tailored to your wedding or individual use.

With a minimal amount of effort beading can become a hobby of great personal satisfaction. Specializing in gemstones, the showroom is plentifully stocked with gemstone beads of all colors and description...from tiny seed beads to a display of 2,000 year old beads collected from all over the world.

"It's so interesting to think that these beads over here were being made in Jesus' time," reflects Brian. "We enjoy getting beads from all over the world...the beauty of the beads...the colors. We're now importing some beautiful fresh water pearls from China...in a variety of unbelievable colors and shapes...peach, peacock, golden bronze, chocolate brown, of course white. They are also very reasonably priced, incredibly low...a fraction of the cost you'd pay elsewhere."

"We also feature hard to find gold-filled, sterling and 14K findings, in addition to all the tools and beading supplies needed for any project. We ship anywhere in the country...and we've helped thousands to get started in beading through mail order. We receive orders from Puerto Rico, Europe, Canada, just about anywhere," Brian says with a warm smile.

From beading classes to national mail order, from girl scouts to professional designers, from artists to hobbyists...or even just the merely inquisitive, Kuma Bead is a most interesting place to visit and shop.
